New Studio in Dyersburg for Roush Studios

Hi Everyone,

I know we've been away from the blog for a few months. Everyone needs a break from it, plus, we have been busy doing new work and changing our business direction a little along the way.
First of all, some great news about our studio in Dyersburg. I've taken on a partner in the retail portrait/wedding side of our business. Seasoned Pro Photographer Jeff Tabor is now on board with us. I'm so excited to have him involved. He brings a new creative energy and a unrivaled talent to our photographic team in West Tennessee. There is nothing better than a cynergistic creative team in a photographic studio environment. We're very excited to see what the future will bring.

In addition to Jeff Tabor we've added another talented photographer to the mix. Her name is Niki Barker. New energy and creativity from her rounds out or team to perfection. Our group is now complete and we are ready to hit the portrait and wedding business head on this year.

We've also moved our studio to a new location in Dyersburg. Our previous location was temporay from the start; being small and condusive to the type of work we do on a regular basis.
This new location is a large warehouse type space with drive in capability for vehicles and motorcycles. Imagine a senior portrait with a car done in a studio?

Our new address is:

Roush Studios
422 Masonic Street
Dyersburg, TN 38024
731.676.1520 - new phone #

All of you local folks please stop by and see us. We're planning a grand opening in a few weeks and we'll get you on the invite list!

More later -
Jeff

Roush Studios is open for business

Finally, after all the fun of moving, Roush Studios is back in gear and open for business. Our new location in Dyersburg so far has been great. It's an easy to find location right on a main artery in Dyersburg Tennessee. My wife, Mitzie Roush, is happy of course being it's her home town.

We've already scheduled a few photography workshops for students and photography clubs in the West Tennessee area. Photographers from Memphis and Nashville have called to join a few of the different programs we're offering. Along with these group programs we are still offering our private photography lessons to any one who would like to sign up.

We're putting a new emphasis on our retail business and now are offering Custom Fine Art Portraiture along with our Commercial Advertising Photography services. If you check our web sites you'll see our portraiture is different, much more personal and artistic than the normal "potrait photo / take a number" studios.

We'll be posting some new images on all of our websites soon as we slowly make the transition in this new retail location. So, keep an eye on two of our newer web sites - http://www.roushphotoart.com and http://www.mitziesphoto.com as we add brand new images to both.

Thanks for reading. Any comments are welcome.

Roush Studios has MOVED!

July 17, 2008
For Immediate Release:
To: Roush Studios Customers
Jeff & Mitzie Roush, owners of Roush Studios have announced that Roush Studios has moved to a new location in Dyersburg, Tennessee - and the community has welcomed us with open arms. Although our family has lived in this area since relocating to Tennessee in the early 2000's we've operated our business in a nearby community - but no more!
This move is a great thing for us as a small company, and ultimately for our client base. Our new studio will operate with less overhead and less expense, so all of the folks that have used us for the past years will benefit. We've noticed that recently, with this ever changing economy, the need for us to pay closer attention to budgets and photography rates has become ever more important. You'll find us now a better value and a more effeciently tuned photographic machine for your advertising and corporate work.
Our new address is:

Roush Studios
1687 Hwy 51 ByPass N.
Parker Plaza
Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024
731.217.4058

All future shipments (products for photography) and snail-mail should be re-directed to this new location. We look forward to offering our award winning photography and great service from this new location starting next week.

Thanks to all of you for your support through the years!
Jeff & Mitzie

Online Photography Courses

For those of you who have been bugging me to get my online photography classes started I have to thank you for providing the motivation I needed to finish this program. Putting together a comprehensive digital photography course to use online is hard, but with your obvious interest and a little pressure from some of you I have managed to finally get it rolling. The most surprising part was that I've already enrolled some students!

First, I wanted to make it very affordable, and secondly I wanted to make it easy to follow along with simplicity in completion. The interesting part about these classes, as opposed to other online photo courses is the way I've split the segments into different categories. Some can "test-out" of a category if they feel they can pass the short test. I have also designed this program so that there are no time limits on completion; another big selling feature to this busy lifestyle we all seem to lead. The program is designed to be completed in a few months, but, completion in more time is totally acceptable and has no bearing on the materials covered or your grade.

Another big feature about the course is this; you can take any portion of it without necessarily covering all the segments. This particular feature is important to many "Pro-Am" photographers who simply need a little assistance a particular area and not a complete course.

So, if you need some help drop me an email and we'll see just what I can offer you to get you to then next level as a photographic artist.

RoushStudios & Portraits

Although I haven't concentrated on doing high level portraiture in the recent past years I've felt like I'd like to start to do it again. Portraiture at certain levels isn't much fun; running a sports team across in front of your camera for instance. However, when one can choose the type of portraiture and give it the attention it should have it can be very rewarding for both the photographer and the person you are photographing.
Take a look at http://www.roushstudios.com/portrait.htm and take particular notice of the photos of the pregnant woman and her husband. These photographs were truly a joy to shoot and everyone loves them. My wife Mitzie Roush helped on this shoot, and in cases like this where isn't really a direction to follow it's nice to have some creative input.
She's an accomplished photographer and will soon have images up on our stock photo site http://www.neatophoto.com. I do miss her help in the studio, she's a great "idea person". There was a day when she worked fulltime with me there, but now she's concentrating on other interests, and her absence has taken a toll on me for sure.
None the less, my point is this, shoot portraiture that you want to shoot...not what your competitors shoot.
Good luck!
